Al Jarreau’s unique vocal style is one of the world’s most precious treasures. His innovative musical expressions have made him one of the most exciting and critically acclaimed performers of our time with seven Grammy Awards, scores of international music awards and popular accolades worldwide.
In March 2001 Al Jarreau received his own Star on the "Hollywood Walk of Fame", commemorating his status as one of the best singers of his generation.
2006 found Al teaming up with George Benson to record Givin’ It Up. The album featured guest appearances by artists including Herbie Hancock, Sir Paul McCartney, Jill Scott, Chris Botti and Patti Austin, amongst others musical veterans. Givin’ It Up was released to critical acclaim on October 24, 2006 by Concord Music Group/Monster Music.
Al Jarreau is the only vocalist in history to receive Grammy Awards in three different categories (jazz, pop, and R&B).
The upcoming CD101.9 Concert in Red at the Beacon Theatre will be Jarreau’s first show in NYC in over a year and a half.
The featured guest artist for the CD101.9 Concert In Red will the super-talented smooth jazz saxop-honist Najee, who has
a brand new album, “Rising Sun”
The new album features a hit single being played on smooth jazz stations nationwide, “Come What May”.
ABOUT NAJEE:
One of the best-selling instrumentalists of the late '80s to mid-'90s, Najee has been a consistent favorite in the quiet storm and smooth jazz markets. Often compared to Kenny G, George Howard, and Dave Koz, this native New Yorker has been greatly influenced by Grover Washington, Jr.
