Khanyo
Let My Heart Sing

Khanyo was born in the township of KwaMashu in Durban. Born in a musical family of six, she started singing professionally at the tender of age of 13 when she was cast for lead vocals in the musical play Sarafina. She stayed with Sarafina for four years, traveling to Germany, Australia, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, China and Japan. By the age of 17, Khanyo had learnt her sweet and powerful voice to the recordings of South Africa's leading talents such as Rebecca Malope, Jonas Gwangwa, Lucky Dube and the legendary Afro-Jazz group, Bayete.

To date Khanyo has featured on more than 50 local and international albums. During the 1990's she toured South Africa, Europe and the United States with the likes of Jabu Khanyile, Caiphus Semenya, Hugh Masekela, Busi Mhlongo and Mango Groove, Juluka, Ringo Madlingozi, as well as international artists such as Oleta Adams, Angelique Kidjo, Patti Austin and Simply Red. Early in 2000 the acting stage beckoned as Khanyo starred in the award-winning plays Hair, Stamping, Mzansi (Produced by Caiphus Simenya and Quincy Jones), and vibrating Africa.

In 2005, soon after the release of her 3rd album ‘Let My Heart Sing', Khanyo was approached by a number of freelancing musicians to include them in her band. These session musicians with stunning voices who are now part of the band have long history with most South African musicians. Khanyo is one of the Divas in South Africa who would be performing with the legends that will tour the whole of Africa from March to November 2006.

Ladies and Gentlemen, let Khanyo take you on a great musical journey into her heart…
