Well, fellow readers, I'm hoping by now that you've finished the great novel "A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian" by Marina Lewycka.
Ever seen a movie on DVD that had different endings? A lot of films these days, and tv shows, for that matter, are offering several different endings to give the audience a choice in how the plot ends up. Or just keeps them guessing.
If you had YOUR choice, how would this book have ended? Or...maybe your choice would be...it SHOULDN'T end, but continue on in a series of sequels, following some of the characters back to the Ukraine and detailing their exploits along the way back to the Motherland.
Who should be identified as the real baby's father? Or should it remain a mystery? How will Stanislav grow up, and how has his life been altered by living in the U.K. and then returning to the Ukraine? What about the two sisters' relationship? Is it repaired fully?
If you have any plot twists and turns and alternative endings you'd like to spout forth, we're all ears!
Thanks again for listening, and for reading this, our second book in the CD 101.9 Book Club from Penguin. Don't forget to tell a friend how entertaining and thought-provoking it is!
Til next time,
Yours between the pages,
Deborah Rath
