Paul Cavalconte's journeyman days in New York radio, spanning 2 decades and an unusual variety of formats, touched down at CD101.9 in 1998, which has been his home base ever since.
Paul settled into hosting Morning Drive for a couple of years, and since 2005 has held down the 3-8 PM Afternoon Drive time slot, where listener-programmed "Personal Playlist" music sets and occasional visits from Smooth Jazz luminaries keep the pace upbeat. Paul's show has even gone on the road, broadcasting from such far-flung locales as London, Miami, The Caribbean and the Greek Isles.
Paul especially enjoys engaging celebrities from theater, TV, Movies and Music in intimate conversation, and "Sundays At 7", these unique interviews (and frequent live performances)are aired in the relaxed setting of weekend mornings at leisure.
A born-and-bred New Yorker, Paul's radio days began in college at Fordham University and have included stints at city and suburban stations which accomodated Paul's eclectic musical taste, including jazz, rock and even classical music. Forays into network, satellite and internet broadcasting, along with many commercial voiceovers, have spread Paul's reach beyond the local airwaves.
Paul's off air interests cover an unusual range as well. An intuitive chef, hi-fi enthusiast, outdoorsman and nature buff, his leisure time can be split between woodland hikes in country haunts, shopping for delicacies in New York's ethnic neighborhoods, and searching for gold in the dusty record shops of Greenwich Village. |
